Joey Ballesteros brings more than two decades of playing and coaching experience to Blue Banner Volleyball. His volleyball journey began at Foothill High School, where he played as an Outside Hitter and helped lead the program to its first-ever NCS Division I Championship in 2006. The experience helped shape a lifelong passion for the sport and a commitment to helping others achieve their goals through volleyball.
After high school, Joey continued his playing career at Holy Names University while earning a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management. His experiences as both a student-athlete and competitor provided valuable insight into the discipline, preparation, and mindset required to succeed at higher levels of the game.
As a coach, Joey believes that strong fundamentals create the foundation for long-term success. His coaching philosophy emphasizes technical mastery, attention to detail, and consistent skill development. He is passionate about helping athletes build confidence, improve their volleyball IQ, and develop habits that translate beyond the court.
Joey is excited to be part of the Blue Banner Volleyball family and looks forward to supporting student-athletes as they grow as players, teammates, and leaders. He is committed to creating a positive and challenging environment where athletes can reach their full potential.

Beyond Volleyball
When he is not in the gym, Joey enjoys traveling, hiking, and exploring new restaurants and local food experiences with his wife and child. His love of adventure, learning, and connecting with people reflects the same energy and curiosity he brings to coaching.
