Dave’s profound affinity for volleyball was ignited under the mentorship of two elite national team players, sparking an unparalleled dedication that led him to compete fervently on the court almost every single day.

Beyond his personal passion, Dave boasts an impressive track record as a player. His achievements span a wide range of formats, from dominating two-man sand and grass tournaments — where he secured a prestigious USAV ranking — to leaving his mark in four-person grass events and six-person indoor matches, always exemplifying exceptional skill and strategic prowess.

Transitioning from an accomplished player, Coach Dave seamlessly stepped into the realm of coaching, gifting Blue Banner with his broad spectrum of experience. He’s mentored a myriad of age groups, ranging from budding 11–12-year-old enthusiasts to middle/high schoolers and adults. A testament to his effectiveness, our athletes flourish under his wing, buoyed by Dave’s unwavering belief: the deeper his coaching commitment, the loftier our student-athletes’ achievements.

Embracing a comprehensive coaching philosophy, Coach Dave specializes in developing student-athletes under 16. While open to diverse training techniques, he views “block” training for this age group with a discerning eye. His focus remains steadfast on laying a robust foundation, molding versatile, six-position players, and ensuring each student-athlete at Blue Banner realizes their fullest potential.

Cherishing precious moments with his wife and son, Dave also indulges in his artisanal passions. A maestro in the kitchen, he crafts sourdough bread that rivals the best of bakeries, with every loaf baked to golden perfection. Moreover, his quest for the ultimate brew has seen him scour the globe for the finest coffee beans. From roasting and grinding to the final aromatic sip, Dave’s coffee endeavors are as meticulous and heartfelt as his coaching techniques.
