Curly’s journey with volleyball began long before her collegiate career—it all started with a throw from behind home plate.

At just 10 years old, while catching in a softball game, Curly made a bold move: she threw out a runner attempting to steal second base. Coach Lucky happened to be watching and immediately noticed her natural arm whip. He knew this talent needed to be on the volleyball court. After convincing her mom to check out his U12 Power team, Curly’s volleyball story began—and it hasn’t stopped since.

Now a collegiate athlete at Whittier College, Curly has competed in a range of positions over the last 9 years—setter, outside hitter, and currently libero/outside for Whittier’s volleyball team. Her versatility and resilience on the court reflect her deep love for the game and her ability to adapt and thrive wherever needed.

Off the court, Curly is majoring in Kinesiology with aspirations to pursue a career in Sports Medicine. She’s also returned to her roots, coaching alongside Coach Lucky, Coach Gel, and Coach Dave at Blue Banner. Her goal? To inspire the next generation of athletes with energy, empathy, and encouragement—just like the coaches who once guided her.

Fun fact: her nickname “Curly” comes from her signature hair, but around Blue Banner, it’s also become synonymous with energy, leadership, and heart.
